The After Party: An evening of death, crafts, and cocktails

Saturday, December 14, 2019
4:00 pm9:00 pm
Cornish Playhouse 201 Mercer St, Seattle, WA 98109

People's Memorial Association is hosting its first fundraiser to celebrate its 80th anniversary! PMA members and supporters have historically transformed the way we talk about and experience death, making Seattle the hub for progressive death care and the nation’s thought-leader. Today, our organization is focusing on the environmental impact the funeral industry has on our planet as it continues to advocate for more choices and transparency.

This unique event will be more than a typical fundraiser; we will incorporate our education and advocacy efforts and invite guests to learn about green burial and the two new, eco-friendly disposition options: alkaline hydrolysis or “aquamation” and natural organic reduction or “recomposition” (human composting). PMA recently spearheaded the bill that is legalizing these two disposition options in Washington State giving people the opportunity to reduce their carbon emissions in their final act on Earth. Guests will engage in interactive activities and art projects to contemplate and discuss the community’s role in death care. Live entertainment will be enjoyed along with delicious local food and beverages.
