Discounted Burial Plots

Donate Burial Plots

People's Memorial Association sells donated cemetery lots located in Washington State to raise funds for its funeral education and advocacy efforts.  The plots are sold for up to 50% of their market value. If you wish to donate cemetery property, you may be able to take a tax deduction based on the current market value. The process for donating a plot to PMA is simple:

  1. Contact the cemetery for the market value of the plot. Ask what the transfer fee will be; PMA will pay up to $395. If an appraisal is needed, will do so for a small fee and they will prepare tax paperwork for you as well.
  2. Contact PMA at about your plot. A PMA staff member and you/the seller will arrange to meet with a cemetery representative at the cemetery if possible.
  3. At the meeting, the cemetery will have paperwork to complete which typically takes about 30 minutes to an hour. PMA will then pay up to $395 for the transfer fee. PMA will provide you/the seller with an IRS Form 8283 about the donated plot for your taxes.
