Ducks in a Row is People's Memorial Association's popular three-part workshop series that provides participants with information they need to plan every major component of their end of life arrangements with confidence and peace of mind. In partnership with The Seattle Public Library, the series has been made publicly available to Seattle residents online and in person at resource centers. The partnership has enabled the translation of the series into Spanish, Mandarin, and Cantonese, with more languages planned.

Topics in the series include:

  • Legal and Financial Documents (trusts, wills, probate, Durable Power of Attorney)
  • Advance Directive for Health, POLST (Portable Order for Life-Sustaining Treatment) forms, Medical Power of Attorney, and information on Washington's Death with Dignity law
  • Funeral planning decisions (Disposition Authorization, Designated Agent, legal funeral options)

Workshops are led by experts including estate attorneys, representatives from community partners like End of Life Washington, and a deathcare educator. Information provided at the workshops is neutral, with zero sales-pitch or pressure. Participants are encouraged to make their own decisions after learning about their legal options available in Washington state.
