Casey Husseman Brandt, Executive Director
Born in Portland, Oregon and a PNW-lifer, Casey has been calling Seattle home since 2015. Casey joined People's Memorial Association and The Co-op Funeral Home in 2023 as the Executive Director of both organizations. They have worked in management consulting, business operations, and nonprofit operations. Casey’s past nonprofit experiences include Operations Manager at Seattle CityClub and Staff Support Specialist at the Center for Effective Altruism.
Casey came to death care after volunteering for the WA Crisis Connections Warm Line and knowing they wanted to continue to work directly with people in need. With both parents as educators and years of tutoring experience, Casey was drawn to PMA’s education accessibility. Their love for the work and all those providing compassionate end-of-life care has bloomed into a passion for advancing the advocacy missions of affordability and environmental sustainability around all things funerals.
Outside of work, Casey enjoys reading, playing many instruments, and identifying birds. They are an avid board game player, bicyclist, and donut connoisseur. Casey is gender nonbinary and uses the pronouns they/them, as well as the honorific Mx. (pronounced “mix”).
