Death Doula 1: Death Companion

A Death Companion is designed to share education with people on ways to better support community during the end of-life process. This course offers training in the physical, practical, and emotional care of the living, the dying and the dead. Topics covered are strengthening listening skills, companioning the dying, impact of identity, creating a death plan, understanding signs of death, vigil process, disposition options, privilege, holding space, and advance planning. Also discussed are who has and who doesn't have access to deathcare and what role we can hold while working in these racist and biased systems that exist in the United States.
