A Death Companion
Level 1: A Death Companion is designed to share education with people on ways to better support community during the end of-life process. This course offers training in the physical, practical and emotional care of the living, the dying and the dead. Some of the topics we cover are strengthening listening skills, companioning the dying, impact of identity, creating a death plan, understanding signs of death, vigil process, disposition options, privilege, holding space and advance planning.
We discuss who has and who doesn't have access to deathcare and what role we can hold while working in these racist and biased systems that exist in the United States. This is the start of a journey and is recommended for all people who will die, or know someone who will.

This is a prerequisite for their Level 2 class. There are three days of 4 hour classes. The course fee is sliding scale that starts at $550. Partial Scholarships offered to Black, Brown Indigenous Humans.

All videos shared during the event will have English subtitles or transcripts, any written screen materials will be in large font. Please contact A Sacred Passing to confirm your needs are supported and honored.
