Wills 101: The Essentials
Have you made a plan for who will receive your assets and handle your affairs when you pass away? Are you worried about probate, or interested in other ways to ensure your assets transfer to your chosen beneficiaries?
In this session, we’ll look at probate assets (those potentially covered by a Will) and nonprobate assets (those assets that can transfer apart from a Will or probate); what you can do in the comfort of your own home to do a “check-up” on these assets; and what types of information should be found in your Will.
We’ll talk about the default statutory rules if you pass away without a Will or other estate planning device, and how to make your wishes known if you aren’t comfortable with the default rules.
